Explanation Toward Books The Last Leaf

Sue and Johnsy are two girlfriends who live together in New York City. When Johnsy becomes sick one winter, she makes up her mind to die when the last leaf falls from the ivy plant growing outside her window. Sue would do anything to help her friend get well, but she is a poor artist. As the winter wind blows and the rain falls, there seems no way to stop the last leaf from falling.

Criticize Regarding Books The Last Leaf
A very Unique story with a shocking ,unprecedented twist that changes the whole dimension of the story . Until the culmination of the story , it was hanging around an eerie fancy debating in mind whether the last leaf that apparently dictates johnsy's life (an abstarct mind-woven concept by an ill-stricken mind) would fall-off or not . The Shocking twist when unveiled adds lot of substance and showcases the ingeniousness of Henry.4 stars on 5 !-gautam

I tend to overthink these kind of stories but I find it sad how Johnsy was just ready to let go when she thought it was her time, how Behrman didnt live to see his masterpiece. I pity both. On another note, Johnsy is selfish for not even trying to stay alive or at least pretending for the sake of poor Sue. I guess the last part of this review is the one that read too deep into this.

Faboulus little book that I will certainly try to get a copy of for my library.I love little stoies like this that have so much meaning in so little pages.Wonderful and enlightening.

"Young artists must pave their way to art by drawing pictures for magazine stories that young authors write to pave their way to literature."But to create a masterpiece, you just need to put your heart and soul in your work because you never know whose life your art can save. This short story is a testament, that to write a masterpiece, you just need a pen, few pages and a heart!

I simply loved this story. Not only was it magical, but thought provoking too. The lesbian subtext was portrayed really well, and the humanity of the story was uplifting. "The Last Leaf" is a must read for everyone and is an excellent introduction to O. Henry. Can't wait to read "The Gift of the Magi" and his other stories!

In my opinion, the message lying behind last leafs short story, message that comes through most powerfully is that you should not judge people by their outward appearances or social persona. The story describes the artist that lives beneath, Behrman, as an old drunk who had never found success and hated weakness though he goes out in the middle of a storm to paint a leaf for Johnsy. This self-sacrifice is an interesting point why would he do such a thing earlier in the story he laughed at the
