Emotional rollercoasterAwesome book...emotions swing from one end of the spectrum to another.. Well written.. Capturing .. You just can't stop till the end...The Vegan Embargo was my introduction to author L. F. Mascarenhas. The title of this book refers to choosing the vegan lifestyle. Mason McLaughlin lives in New York. He unhappily broke up with his girlfriend because she did not want marriage or children. His life takes a turn when the colleague he starts seeing, becomes pregnant. He suddenly finds himself a new home owner, a newlywed, and a new dad. A quick read, with some errors that slowed me down, and a story line that sure seems like it could happen in this day and age.
I started reading this book on my long flights to the west coast. I laughed quite a few times during the book. The humor makes the book a little lighter in what could be a slowly depressing book. I got a little teary eyed during that one chapter which was very saddening to read. The person side of me on the flight asked me if I was okay. Nice story & great book!
This book was recommended by a friend. I have never heard of this author before, so I am guessing this is his/her's first book. If you're a guy, you might most probably like the main character. The book starts off slow, but then it really it gets to you. I put the book down only once and that is because I was crying profusely & the pages were getting wet. I COULD NOT continue that day, because I did not have the heart for it. I have mixed feelings about Tessa. She has her VEGAN beliefs and I
the author did a good job developing his characters. for a first novel the author is on the right path to writing other novels. I hope his wife is not like Tessa and more like Katherine. Great airplane read and I can see an movie made of this as this would attract both sexes.
