Empire V (Рама II #1)
One of the bests of my beloved author.
This must have been a difficult book to translate from the Russian to English (which was the form I read), and maybe that made for a difficult read too. I am sure that some of the context was hard, if not impossible to translate.A Westerner may also find the Russian mind set, environment and politics hard to interpret too.I would recommend anyone read "The Master and Margarita " by Mikhail Bulgakov first to get into the feel first. This book was so full of philosophical theory that a copy of
I was a bit resistant to read this book by judging whats on the cover. And the cover says that the book is about vampires, which seemed quite lame to me.But the book is not lame at all. And the story behind vampires is a good irony of what do we live on and what feeds us. Pelevin wrote the book in engaging way and I enjoyed almost every page, except some with details on vampire philosophies about mind A and mind B.Worth reading, even though its about vampires.
A great read! Endlessly charming, at times confusing Pelevin takes on all the basic social constructs and rips them apart so we can see their bowels. Consumerism, capitalism, philosophy, fashion - you name it - as we read the novel it's all demasked and served (or so it should be) on a golden platter for a young, freshly-became vampire. At times confusing narrative inside the story comes as a result of Pelevin's wish to engage with and explain the core of mind and reality itself - a concept so
The only modern vampire novel you need.
I enjoyed this a lot and I'm glad I read it, but I also have to admit that it was bloody hard work and about a third of it went over my head.

Commentary In Pursuance Of Books Empire V (Рама II #1)
Specify Books Toward Empire V (Рама II #1)
